FEATURED
QUESTION:
What
do I need to do to keep my car from overheating
in the winter?
ANDY'S
ANSWER:
To avoid an over heating problem you should
have the cooling/heating system checked.
Make sure the anti-freeze is clean and at
the proper protection level. Have the
hoses checked for age and wear issues.
You should also check the heater and make
sure it is putting out plenty of heat.
If it is not heating properly, it may point
to a blockage in the system somewhere or a
thermostat that is not working properly.
Since the heater is tied to the main cooling
system, it can give an indication of a potential
problem. Ask

WINTERIZING
YOUR VEHICLE
Frosty
the Snowman loves winter, and it’s time to make
sure your car will too. As you bring out your
winter coats and boots and a few items to make the perfect
snowman, make sure your car is also ready for whatever
Mother Nature has in store this winter. Here’s
a list of what needs to be checked before the temperature
outside drops:
> Antifreeze: Make sure you have the proper
mix.
>
Battery:If you suspect it won’t make
it through another winter, don’t wait until you’re
stranded before you get it replaced.
>
Brakes: Be sure they’re in top condition
for the messy winter road conditions.
>
Belts: The summer heat was hard on them; make
sure they’re in good shape for the rigors of winter.
>
Defroster:You haven’t used it for awhile.
Is it working fine now?
> Filters: Better to replace them now
than after it gets nasty outside.
> Fluids: Brake, oil, washer, transmission,
etc.
 |
>
Heater: Oh yeah!
>
Hoses: A broken radiator hose can cause
a disaster any time of year.
> Tire pressure and tread:Winter
road conditions is no time to be driving on tires
not properly inflated or with less than adequate
tread.
> Wipers:When
slush splatters on your windshield, you’ll
be glad you replaced your wipers!
